Cindy Sheehan -- Next President Of The USA!

Cindy Lee Miller Sheehan was born on July 10, 1957. She will become the next President of the United States. And why not? Who has given more for this nation? Who has had the courage to speak openly, unscripted, with infinite passion? The time has come for all decent Americans to simply forget about partisan allegiances. Principles and courage are all that will save us now; all else is sheer vanity.

Let's forget about our latest crop of sell-outs and elect someone with heart and courage and determination. In 2008, I am going to vote for Cindy Sheehan for president. If you are a real US Citizen, you will do likewise!

Puh-lease! You've got to be kidding.  Get a grip.
Cindy doesn't wear too well over the long haul, God bless her. She won't even make a ripple in Nancy Pelosi's district, let alone the U. S. of A.

A lot mothers have given the ultimate to this country.  I applaud Cindy for what she did in Crawford.  She drew attention to this war at a time when the media seemed to think it wasn't the lead story anymore.   But I think her 15 minutes expired long long ago and now she looks like she is trying to hang on to the spotlight.

Nice. That'll go a long way to getting everyone else on your bandwagon.

I would suggest you start organizing your precinct operation now. It'll take a while to get that set up.

How... could Cindy be worse than Shrub?
I don't think that is the question we should be asking.
How about something more like-
Who can best lead and repair our nation following Bush?
Cindy is not exactly right up there on the list.

well, Bush merely cut the federal income tax rates at the top brackets, Sheehan believes the income tax is unconstituional and wants to get rid of it entirely. She's a complete nut.

Sheehan brings new campaign through Houston

By ANNE MARIE KILDAY
Copyright 2007 Houston Chronicle

Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan spent her 50th birthday in Houston
today, attending events aimed at ending the war in Iraq.

Sheehan joined other activists who gathered on the Montrose bridge
during the afternoon rush hour to hold signs calling for the
impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.

Sheehan urged about 100 Houston peace activists to join join her
13-day caravan to Washington, D.C., where she plans to formally
announce her candidacy against U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Sheehan, a Californian, announced she will challenge Pelosi if the
lawmaker has not moved to impeach Bush and Cheney by July 23.

"My campaign is going to happen, because we know she is not going to
put impeachment on the table," Sheehan said.

A spokesman for Pelosi said her "focus is on winning the war in Iraq."

Sheehan said American troops should be immediately withdrawn from
Iraq.

"I have a very simple solution. Put our troops on the borders,"
Sheehan said. "Total and complete withdrawal, close the permanent
(military) bases, bring out the war profiteers."

Since announcing her conditional candidacy against Pelosi, Sheehan
said the topic of impeachment has received more publicity.

Sheehan even suggested that the Bush administration would refuse a
peaceful transition after the November 2008 elections.

"This is why they have to be removed. There will not be a peaceful
transfer of power on Jan. 20, 2009," Sheehan said. "I don't want to be
an alarmist."

In her speech at First Unitarian Universalist Church, Sheehan also
announced her new campaign, called People for Humanity, which is aimed
at ending the war, supporting veterans and sending medical supplies to
Iraqi refugees displaced by the war.

Many of the anti-war activists went to City Hall today and asked the
Houston City Council to support a resolution in favor of impeaching
Bush and Cheney.

"The actions of this administration have cost our city dearly," said
John Beatty of Houston. "Most importantly in the lives of our children
in uniform, but also by increasing the number of Iraqi sympathizers
and increasing the risk of attacks on our refinery infrastructure."

"When the National Guard is called to Iraq, the state's ability to
control floods and wildfire is compromised," said Christine Morshedi
of Tomball.

While some council members thanked the activists for exercising their
right of free speech, Councilman Michael Berry called them "terribly
rude" for wasting the council's time. The mayor has a policy of not
allowing the council to take up non-binding resolutions.

"I never ran on the basis of whether to impeach the president or not,"
said Berry, a lawyer, businessman and conservative radio talk show
host.

Berry said the speakers were "taking up the time of people who have
issues that the city can actually address."

"It's not a political circus and that's what Cindy Sheehan is about,"
Berry said.

Sheehan set up camp outside Bush's Crawford ranch in 2005 as part of
her campaign to end the war in Iraq. Two months ago, Sheehan said she
was selling "Camp Casey," named in honor of her 24-year-old son who
died in Iraq in April 2004.

In May, Sheehan said she was going home to California, after enduring
hatred and smear tactics from both the left and right.

This evening, Sheehan said she is "re-energized" by the idea of a
campaign against Pelosi and the new effort to help Iraq war veterans
and refugees.

Sheehan said she left the Democratic Party after Congress voted to
approve more funding for the way.

Chronicle reporter Carolyn Feibel and The Associated Press contributed
to this report.

Re: Cindy Sheehan -- Next President Of The USA! (3.00 / 0)

Hardly. Have you read Sheehan's diary on dailykos to announce she's running as an independant against Pelosi? Hillary isn't good on many issues, but she certainly hasn't given any indication of thinking the federal income tax (enabled by the 16th amendment) is unconstituional. Sheehan sprouted extremist anti-tax talking points not to mention her nonsense about the democratic party being the party of slavery and the party that started every war.

by Quinton on Wed Jul 11, 2007 at 01:59:11 PM EST

Re: Cindy Sheehan -- Next President Of The USA! (none / 0)

In fact, the U.S. Supreme Court acknowledged that the 16th amendment was never shown to be ratified by a majority of States.

It was falsely declared to be ratified in February 1913 by Secretary of State Philander Knox, but no independent actual proof exists that enough of 48 states formally ratified it.

The other major point is that Article 1, Section 9 of the Constitution, states that it is not  unconstitutional for the U.S. Federal Government to directly tax We the People in their wages, salaries, or labor.  Only approportioned levies and taxes were permitted by the Constitituion.

So, Cindy Sheehan is correct here about the facts and the history.

The Federal Income Tax is a cesspool of corruption. There are some 40,000 pages to define it and very few of those pages were written to be "progressive" or to be "fair".  It is a mistake to think of the Income Tax as this wonderous progressive entity -- it is not.  Despite marginal tax rates having a progressive structure, the vast majority of the income tax code provides loopholes for the rich and places the burden on the working and the middle class. No other Nation on the entire planet has a tax system as complex, incomprehensible, and patently unfair.  Warren Buffet, for example, stated that he is taxed at a lower rate than his secretary is.

So, please.  Stop defending the fraud that is the Federal Income Tax.

There are far, far, better models than this and we should get smart and rethink our tax system in this Country.

Re: Cindy Sheehan -- Next President Of The USA! (3.00 / 0)

Cindy's a nice lady who suffered a terrible loss and made a grand political statement in the aftermath.  Why in God's name that would qualify someone to run the most powerful country in the world I have no idea.

Call me crazy, but I prefer someone with ANY experience in the machinations of government to someone with NO experience.

by Jay R on Wed Jul 11, 2007 at 06:48:50 PM EST

Well, That was Interesting! (none / 0)

I only put out this "Cindy Sheehan -- Next President Of The USA!" piece because I feel that every single potential candidate, regardless of party affiliation or even political position (perhaps with the exception of Kucinich), is deeply flawed in some way or other.

Frankly, I was not much aware of Cindy's political position, but, mainly due to my frustration with the Hillary inevitability legend, and the McCain Kamikaze spectacle, etc., merely shot this arrow up as far as I could to see where it might fall. All in all, the idea of Mrs. Sheehan running the executive branch with no political experience is probably just too far fetched.

One thing the diary comments made clear, however, is that the Federal Reserve, and most forms of current federal taxation, are really unconstitutional. The root of this problem is obviously the fact that the Constitution, fabulous in it's own time, is hopelessly inapplicable to the situations of our current era.

I have been advocating sweeping changes, including prohibiting any judge (supreme court judges included) from rendering any decision without the permission of a random jury. And voting methods that actually express the intent of the people (Google: ' Consecutive Runoff Approval Voting '). Plus, all voting machines must be abolished, and each voting station must be supervised by a special local jury, with the votes counted by the jury immediately at the conclusion of the election. The election jurors would have to announce and publish the results of their count prior to transmitting this information to any larger pools of vote tabulation. I would remove the power of the president to veto legislation, or to grant pardons or permanent commutation of court sentences. I would make tariffs of at least 10% mandatory. Etc.

The problems we now face utterly transcend political, economic, and military solutions. You see, back in 1929 when the Great Depression became acknowledged, we possessed the Infrastructure of Industrial Production, and we had not reached our own Hubbert peak of oil production (which happened in 1970). Plus, our nation's population still retained the Skills of Industrial Production. WE NO LONGER POSSESS ANY OF THESE THINGS, AND WITHIN FIVE YEARS, WE WILL FALL INTO A MAJOR DEPRESSION THAT WILL MAKE THE 1929 DEPRESSION LOOK LIKE A PICNIC.

I don't know what, exactly, should be done now, but I have some clues. We must cut back the military budget by at least 90%. We must preserve used auto alternators and use them to make vast windmill farms in esthetically acceptable locations. We will find the the only safe and sustainable method of storing energy must utilize containers of highly compressed air (ordinary air). And the only efficient way of converting kinetic energy in to compressed air energy required the utilization of columns of mercury. While not safe to play around with, pure mercury is virtually non-toxic -- it is only toxic when chemically bound to some oxidizing substance.

We are going to need the greatest leaders who ever lived if the USA is to survive at all. And this will require the help of other nations, also.

I can't believe I see people protesting the Fed on MyDD. It's the most hilarious, unbelievable thing I've seen here yet.

Re: Cindy Sheehan -- Next President Of The USA! (none / 0)

In just three years we will not be able to afford to protest the Fed, or anything, actually, on MyDD or anywhere. Because of things like the Fed, we will all starve. Partisan consensus is all fine and well, but it means absolutely nothing when there's nothing in the belly.

Re: Cindy Sheehan -- Next President Of The USA! (none / 0)

The Fed sets interests rates targeted at the long-term stability of our economy. What harm do you allege that they have caused? They answer directly to all federally chartered banks (large and very small) in the United States who have the most information about the health of our economy. It has a lot better representation of households and firms in the US than frankly our Congress affords us at times as citizens.
